Yoga and Jyotish (Vedic Astrology)

Jyotish (vedic astrology)is the vedic science of light dated thousands of years old, commonly known as Indian astrology. It is considered the eyes of the vedas. It helps to guide and navigate us in life so that we can work out our karma the best way. Jyotish gives us the knowledge of our karma and is an important science that supports the practices of Self-realization and yoga. In ancient times, Gurus were knowledgeable in Jyotish and/or used Jyotishis (vedic astrologers) to guide their students and disciples.

Jyotish is the counseling tool par excellence as it helps to ascertain the past life patterns of karma (the samsaras), the areas of strength and weakness, the level of consciousness, and the capacity to succeed in sadhana. Also, Jyotish can be used to find out the types of sadhana (spiritual practices) one should follow, or which type of yoga path is appropriate as a "remedial measure." Yogis use Jyotish to understand not only their suitable path of yoga, but also the obstacles on the path of realization: mental, emotional, or physical; and their corresponding sadhana.

The ashram offers regular Jyotish courses for all levels, personal consultations with Jyotishis and a yearly vedic astrology conference on a specific topic such as medical astrology, vocational astrology, spiritual astrology, etc. Nine such conferences have already been offered. These conferences gather many outstanding Vedic astrologers, many of whom are teachers of theAmerican College of Vedic Astrology.
