Yoga Vacation

The Yoga vacation concept was coined by Swami Vishnudevanandaji 50 years ago when he realized that people come back from their vacations drained, and need to have a vacation from their vacations. He realized that the undisciplined lifestyle of people on vacations is very taxing on their health and energy levels.
The Yoga Vacations Program at the ashram is giving the tired body and mind of workers the necessary readjustment and recharge. The program is designed as a gentle, structured program, following the energies of nature and is offered in the beautiful and positive setting of the Ashram.
The participants will wake up early, with the sunrise and meditate and sing, as well as go to bed after meditation in the evening. There will be two yoga classes daily, that will balance body and mind with prolonged relaxation periods and harmonious yoga postures and breathing.
The mind is turned inward and the senses become calm, leading the participant to a better connection with their inner self. This gives to the entire system an overhaul and much needed rest from the over-stimulation of the mind.
The miracle of Yoga vacations is that by disciplining the body and mind, through a regulated lifestyle, the inner joy that is so sought after in vacations, is attained.
Another important point is the restoration of health through twice daily wholesome, organic vegetarian meals and nice, relaxing walks and hikes in nature.
The Ashram is situated in the most beautiful Sierra Foothills. There is abundant wildlife on the ashram land with free-roaming deer, rabbits, wild turkey, heron and 26 other species of birds, as well as numerous frogs, turtles and fishes. There are many landmark blue oaks, larger than 36 inches on the land, as well as many rare plant species and herbs in the grassland. The pristine Yuba river and it's beaches are just a half hour's drive away, as well as many trails close by. The nearby towns of Nevada City and Grass Valley provide an interesting tourist attraction. And don't forget the pond, where you can swim, the wood sauna and rejuvenating massages and Ayurvedic body treatments are available.

Let yourself be immersed in this oasis of peace and find your inner light and strength.
