One of the main causes of stress is negative feelings and thoughts. Negativity is prevalent nowadays in our fast paced lives. Our interactions with each other may be more negative than comforting and joyful. Our minds may be saturated and our sensitivities numbed by information overload and the confusion and despair that comes from local, national or world current events. In this atmosphere, it is difficult for us to access our innate positive and joyful nature and remember the goodness of men and the grace of God. We may easily lose faith, doubt our true path, and worry about where the world is going and what will become of us.
We need to see clearly and take a break from our busy lives to recharge and reconnect with the beauty and meaning of life. We can not change the external but we can change our outlook about it. We can not redo the past and it is not helpful to worry about the future, but we can live in the solid present and make the best of it.
This week there will be workshops and lectures specifically addressing the power of thoughts, how to be in the present, how to turn negative feelings and thoughts to positive, and how to manage stress and respond positively to challenges. Yoga psychology and philosophy have a wealth of techniques and information that will help us cope.

Study of scripture is a must for all in order to live in the world and not of the world and stay peaceful in our hearts like the lotus, which grows out of mud and yet is most fragrant. Self Knowledge Course (Jnana Yoga) 5 days
This is a foundational course in Vedanta Philosophy leading to Self Knowledge. You will learn the basic precepts and philosophical background of Adwaita Vedanta according to Sankaracharya. You will be introduced to the techniques of self enquiry and learn to discriminate between what is Self and what is Not Self, what is lasting and what is impermanent, what is Real and what is Illusory. From this Self enquiry, you will be able to find out where to put your energy and where to adopt an attitude of detachment.
You will also learn what to do to prepare the mind for Self Knowledge and how to cultivate these necessary inner attitudes and helpful habits in order to Realize that all what you have been searching for is already there. Self Kowledge is Self Realization, or realization of the Atman or pure, immortal Spirit, Supreme Power, or Eternal Indweller. The Self - and not the mind and ego - is to be trusted (it is Sat=absolute Truth). The Self is all knowing , all light everywhere (it is Chit=Consciousness Absolute). The Self is also all loving and all joy (it is Ananda=Bliss Absolute). All answers are within, Love, Peace and Bliss are within. Hankering after external and fleeting happiness leads to disillusions and sufferings.
