An uplifting yogic retreat to complete 2012  and usher in the New Year! 

This end of the year Holiday, when the claimed end of the world is fast approaching, it is an important time to take refuge in the ashram, turning inwards in contemplation and meditation, practicing yoga and pranayama, taking stock of old year and preparing for a challenging year ahead. This is the time to affirm positive intentions with hope and determination. 

The Reality of the Ideal

The world is trapped in the conflict of ideologies, e.g. Democrats vs Republicans, the reality of the ideal is a third alternative. In SynnKune's new art, they are void of representational imagery. To represent something is not the real thing. Imagination and ideology are not the same. Imagination is more. Ideology is less. Reality lies somewhere in between - a challenge to be practical and present.

Holiday Synopsis

This Holiday season, when everyone is frantic inside and out, take time to renew yourself with an enlightening Holiday retreat to uplift your spirit and help you to usher in a bright and brilliant New Year. It will be a retreat full of Light and Joy, with a daily workshop and satsang with Vancouver philosopher and artist Syne Kune Loh.

We will have inspiring creative thinking workshops to remind you to go in the right direction, positive thinking workshops to prepare you for the New Year, and a ritual ceremony to clean all past impressions, and getting ready for the new year.

Mantras for world peace will be collectively repeated to send off our prayers to the whole world and for a good and happy New Year.  Despite our collective challenges nowadays, this is a great opportunity to take time and renew our faith that all is good in the Bigger Picture. We will take the time to remember God and also take time to find ourselves. Consciousness is the ground of being and knowing this, we realign our priorities and readjust the course of our life for greater fulfillment.

Creativity Description

During this week, we will learn the art of freeing ourselves from negative thought patterns through creative thinking processes. This is a fresh perspective based on specifics of Buddhist and Taoist inspirations, Quantum physics, the creativity concept of visionary arts and the study of energy interaction between man and his environment of Feng Shui with the high light of making a Taoist mandala from I Ching oracles for the new year.

Discover practical new ways of being positive and designing your life so that you are able to solve your challenges creatively. Your life is a work of art. There is interconnectedness in all things and you have freedom of choices. Learn to access this field of possibilities and renew your life in preparation for the upcoming New Year.

Topics of workshops:

1. Third Alternative - embracing the field of possibilities gaining insight into the beauty of a spiritual journey beyond intellectual conceptualization. It is a personal account, as seen through the eye of a visionary artist, about what it felt like to capture inspired thoughts as they danced in and out of cognition, opening to the discovery of patterns and meanings free from the confines of normal reality.

2. Spirituality and Creativity - How your art is your expression of spirit

3. Molecular Language and the teachings of the ancient mystery school of China.

4. Consciousness impact on the environment - transition is a time to redesign your home environment to prepare new ground for the next phase in life. This is classical Feng Shui teaching.

5. The five steps of the creative process.

6. Quantum Healing - Healing of the mind and Consciousness

1-3pm daily and continuation of topics in the evening satsangs 8:30-9:30pm

There will be a slide show of Synnkune's paintings, a moving evocative collection of paintings that traces the spiritual journey of a visionary artist through three decades. As in all his art, Synn Kune has combined unique concepts with elegant execution to lead the viewer into a territory made fresh by distinctive intelligence. His paintings call forth the spirit of illumination, twisting your perception a fraction to allow you to step into a new and unforgettable vision.

Swami SitaramanandaAbout Swami Sitaramananda
Swami Sitaramananda is a Yoga, Meditation, and Vedanta teacher for more than 30 years. She is presently the main teacher of the Yoga Teachers Training Courses offered at the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Farm, Grass Valley, CA where she is serving as the director for more then 17 years. She also teaches at other Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Ashrams & Centers in India, Bahamas, Asia, as well as Centers along the West Coast USA, including her birth country, Vietnam. She is a direct disciple of Swami Vishnu-devananda. She was nominated by her teacher as Goraknath acharya (spiritual teacher, one of the holders of the lineage) in 1989. Swami PadmapadanandaAbout Swami Padmapadananda
Swami Padmapadananda was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and began his yoga practice in 1970. He is a senior disciple of Swami Vishnudevananda and was initiated as a sannyasi in 1979. Noted for his heart and humor, he is by nature a 'Bhakta', one who is easily drawn to Bhakti Yoga (the yoga of devotion). Swami Padmapadananda has directed/co-directed Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centers in Israel, London, New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and the Yoga Ranch in upstate New York. Swami PranavanandaAbout Swami Pranavananda
Swami Pranavananda took the vow of Sannyas in 1995. He is a gifted teacher who is the main hatha yoga teacher at the ashram and teaches the Anatomy and Physiology section of our Teachers Training Course.
