Prana, Pranayama, and Yuba River

Learn the classical methods of Yoga for peace of mind and meditation, as taught 2000 years ago by Sage Patanjali in the famous Raja Yoga Sutras.

 

Curriculum

During this weekend you will practice pranayama (yogic breathing exercises) to increase energy and understand the relationship between prana and state of mind.

Lectures will be devoted to Hatha Yoga, Yogic lifestyle and routines, and the Raja Yoga Sutras.

Daily Schedule

6-8am Satsang: Silent meditation, chanting and lecture
8-10am Yoga Class
10am Brunch
11am Karma Yoga
1-3pm Workshop and Pranayama Practice
3-4pm Free Time and Nature walks
4-6pm Yoga Class
6pm Dinner
7-8pm Free Time
8-10pm Satsang: meditation, chanting and lecture

Cost

$30 plus Accommodations for 2 nights.

Arrival and Departure

The course will begin at 8pm on Friday, August 10 with satsang, and will end Sunday, August 12 at 3pm.

We encourage you to arrive by 4pm on Friday, making the most out of the afternoon by joining us for the Asana class and dinner. You are always welcome and encouraged to extend your stay to any length before or after the course. Please indicate your desired arrival and departure dates on your registration form (click 'register' below).

Essentials of Yoga Practice and Philosophy by Swami Sitaramananda

Meditation and Mantras by Swami Vishnu-Devananda

Slip-on shoes, loose comfortable clothing, writing materials, meditation shawl or blanket, yoga mat, flashlight.

All books and materials are available in our boutique.

To reserve a place for this course, please register online or email yogafarmregistration@sivananda.org. Then please call to give us your credit card deposit and confirm your reservation.

A deposit paying for your first night's stay is required for your reservation. Please note that in case of cancellation, no refund will be given. A credit note for other programs at the Yoga Farm (valid for one year) will be given.

LakshmanaAbout Lakshmana
Lakshmana graduated TTC in 2011 at the Yoga Farm and has stayed on as Staff since that time. He has been teaching open classes and assists some of the beginner courses. His karma yoga includes cooking in the kitchen and doing maintenance work. He especially enjoys driving the ashram guests to the scenic Yuba river.  www.sivanandayogafarm.org/our_teachers

SundaramAbout Sundaram
Sundaram completed his TTC in October 2011. Before that he was a Temp-Staff for more than 6 months working on Grounds & Maintenance. Since finishing TTC he has begun teaching open classes and will start assisting Beginners courses.
