Teacher's Training Course in Taiwan

In collaboration with Republic of China Yoga Association (CYA), the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre (SYVC), founder Swami Vishnudevananda, offers for the first time a one-month classical Yoga Teachers Training course in Taiwan December 1 - 29, 2013!  Experience the full one-month intensive training of body-mind-spirit and at the same time enjoy this beautiful location in Taiwan.  Swami Vishnudevananda has visited Taiwan many times in the 80's and was instrumental to bring yoga and the teachings of Master Swami Sivananda Maharaj of Rishikesh, Himalayas to Taiwan.  Swami Vishnu'ji  founded the international SYVC and taught the Synthesis of Yoga with the scientific approach of the West combined with the depth of eastern yogic philosophy in a unique way. Swami Vishnu's practical spirit and modern methods are being transmitted in its integrity by his senior disciple, Swami Sitaramananda. Swami Sitaramananda is the director of the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Farm in Grass Valley, California and has taught many TTCs around the world.

Description

This 4 week course, which offers a profound personal experience, will allow you to transmit the knowledge of yoga to others. The spiritual essence of yoga is learned through a combination of repeated practice and inspirational lessons. Among the many benefits that students report are greater spiritual awareness, a sense of connection with the divine, a new-found sense of self-discipline, enhanced self-esteem, improved power of concentration and increased strength and flexibility.

A teaching certificate from the International SYVC is awarded upon successful completion of this immersion course. The International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center (SYVC) has trained over 24,000 yoga teachers to date since 1969. The curriculum includes asanas, pranayama, meditation, Vedanta philosophy, anatomy/physiology, Bhagavad Gita, mantra and kriyas. Please inquire for a brochure and application form.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the course, students receive the Certificate of the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centers, entitled Yoga Siromani. This training is registered by and fulfils the requirements for the 200-hour certification, for which graduates of the program are invited to register.

Location

Meteor Garden Retreat is located in the eastern suburb of Taichung City in central Taiwan. At five hundred meters above sea level, it is surrounded  by natural beauty: Nestled between Taiwan's famous Snow Mountain Range to the east and Huoyan Mountain to the North, gazing far to the west it beholds Taiwan's western seacoast.  Meteor Garden Retreat is also a dedicated organic fruit farm with fruit trees leisurely spreading out it's property. In the Spring it's covered in cherry blossoms; In the summer butterflies flies flutter among jack fruit and persimmons while fire flies glitter in the evenings. The fragrance of Osamanthus blooms permeates in autumn and in the winter, it's orange grove will bear fruit for harvest.

Meals

There will be 2 vegetarian meals served a day.  One will be the brunch served at 10:00 am.  The second is dinner, served at 6:00 pm.  The main ingrediants in a complete vegetarian meal include rice, vegetables, protein (tofu, beans, tempeh, etc...), soup, salad.

Transportation

Driving: 2 hour drive from Taipei and about 1.5 hour drive from the International airport.   
Train: 1.5 hours from Taipei then a 20 minute taxi ride

Weather 

Taichung City in December: 24C (75F) average high - 14C (57F) average low. Generally much milder and much dryer than Taipei.

Swami SitaramanandaAbout Swami Sitaramananda
Swami Sitaramananda is a Yoga, Meditation, and Vedanta teacher for more than 30 years. She is presently the main teacher of the Yoga Teachers Training Courses offered at the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Farm, Grass Valley, CA where she is serving as the director for more then 17 years. She also teaches at other Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Ashrams & Centers in India, Bahamas, Asia, as well as Centers along the West Coast USA, including her birth country, Vietnam. She is a direct disciple of Swami Vishnu-devananda. She was nominated by her teacher as Goraknath acharya (spiritual teacher, one of the holders of the lineage) in 1989. Swami PranavanandaAbout Swami Pranavananda
Swami Pranavananda took the vow of Sannyas in 1995. He is a gifted teacher who is the main hatha yoga teacher at the ashram and teaches the Anatomy and Physiology section of our Teachers Training Course. Swami NarayananandaAbout Swami Narayanananda
Swami Narayanananda, who hails from England, is a Yoga and Meditation teacher for 10 years in the US where he served at the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Farm in California, the New York Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center, and the Sivananda Ashram in Woodbourne, Catskills, NY. He is presently the director of the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center in Chicago.  

Mahadevi (Nicola Skop)About Mahadevi (Nicola Skop)
Mahadevi (Nicola Skop) hails from Germany. She is a long-time Sivananda Yoga teacher with 10 years of experience teaching in USA, India, Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam and Germany. She had her training in Grass Valley, CA and has been traveling with Swami Sitaramananda as her assistant for many years. She has been the director of the Yoga Shala, a yoga center dedicated to teaching the Sivananda tradition in Hanover, Germany, for many years. She is graduated as Yoga teacher from the Sivananda Yoga Teachers Training Course (TTC) at Sivananda Ashram Yoga Farm, Grass Valley, Advanced TTC from Sivananda Ashram in South India and "Sadhana Intensive Course" from Chateau du Yoga Sivananda at Orleans, France. Mahadevi is a very dedicated and genuine practitioner of the tradition and a well-liked asana teacher. www.yoga-shala.org.  

Ananta ChaitanyaAbout Ananta Chaitanya
Ananta Chaitanya graduated TTC in 2009 and has remained Staff since then. He served in Los Angles Yoga Center in 2010 and in San Francisco Yoga Center in 2011. In 2012 and 2013 he traveled to Vietnam as Swami Sitaramananda's personal assistant helping teach the Hath Yoga classes for the TTC. Ananta ch. also assists Durga Leela in teaching the 12 days Ayurveda and Yoga Wellness Certification course integrating ayurvedic principles onto the yoga mat. Ananta ch. has called the Yoga Farm in Grass valley his home now for the past 4 years. He loves living in a community close to the land and has helped assisting the Permaculture Design course and overseeing the blossoming vegetable garden.  

DeviyaniAbout Deviyani
Deviyani (Christine Ortalitz) is a Yoga teacher at the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Farm, Grass Valley, CA, USA with a background in counselling and social work . She has been trained in techniques that help those with injuries or body limitations to be able to practice yoga asana through the use of props and modifications. She has completed training in chair yoga, as well as yoga psychology.  

Prema (Karina Arenas Bonansea)About Prema (Karina Arenas Bonansea)
Prema was born in Argentina, South America. For the last seven years has been living in Taiwan. She is a long-time Sivananda Yoga teacher with more than 10 years experience teaching to thousands of students in Spain, France, England, Austria, Germany, Poland, Argentina, Peru, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India and Canada. She completed the Sivananda Teachers Training Course in Reith, Tyrol, Austria and the Advanced Teachers Training Course in Vrindavan, India. She has been practicing yoga for more than 14 years. Swami Durgananda and Swami Sivadasananda, Yoga Acharyas and direct disciples of Swami Vishnu Devananda have been her main teachers. In 2003-2004 she was staff at the Sivananda Ashram in Orleans, France and at the Center in Madrid, Spain. She regularly teaches at Teacher Trainings and Advanced Teacher Trainings of the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centers in Europe and India. She models for several Sivananda publications including the international book “Yoga: Your Home Practice Companion”.
